Starting a business has always been tough; and in light of the economic climate in the United States during recent years it has not become easier. Additionally, with the number of different technologies with which a business owner must be literate, if not expert, running a business has never been more complex. However, for the most ambitious and savvy entrepreneurs, the market has never been more fertile and rife with opportunities for success and growth. But in order to benefit from the wealth of business and marketing opportunities, the advice and tips provided by a reputable business magazine might hold the key.

Statistics show that around 70 percent of small businesses survive at least two years. Superficially, this figure sounds pretty good, but it is also deceptive. Although more than two thirds of new businesses remain in business after two years, this number does not reflect how well those businesses are doing financially. Are they making money, or just breaking even? Or a they digging a hole of debt that will soon eat the business alive? Perhaps looking at how well businesses do a bit further down the road will help. While only 30 percent of new businesses fail within the first two years of operation, less than 50 percent of new businesses survive past 5 years. That does not sound so good, does it? While they should be aware, prospective entrepreneurs should not allow these numbers to discourage them, because they are wise enough to consult a small business magazine that focuses on the challenges and needs of small business owners.

While there are numerous business magazines that offer sections and columns aimed at the small business owner, they obviously do not provide the small business focus of small business magazines. As such, an online small business magazine created with the small business owner in mind, offers a wide range of material for entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs of small businesses. In a small business magazine that is offered online, it provides hundreds of small business tips on starting a home based business, investigating business opportunities, the pros and cons of franchising, and small business technology. Obviously, a general business magazine simply cannot provide the wealth of information found in a small business magazine. Considering the challenges faced by small business entrepreneurs, it is in their best interests to consult every possible source that can help to ensure their survival.
