When you need to craft aluminum products, the first question you need to ask yourself is what grade of metal you’ll need. Choosing a grade of metal is an important step in your metal fabrication process. Not only will it determine the final product, but it will determine how you craft it, as well.
Let’s take a look.
If you’re looking for as pure a grade as you can get, there’s nothing quite as good as Aluminum 1100. This commercially pure grade of aluminum is highly desirable when it comes to crafting any sort of aluminum product. The fact that it’s considered commercially pure means that its impurities are less than 1% total. You’re not going to get much more pure aluminum than that!
Aluminum 2011, on the other hand, is less pure but is typically preferred for its high mechanical strength. If you’re creating an industrial product and you need a heartier form of aluminum, this is definitely the way to go.
Choosing an aluminum grade for your next project is a daunting decision, but with a little bit of research you should be able to make an informed decision.
